LONDON Larry Blackledge, a former vice president and general manager at Texas Instruments, has joined Active-Semi International Inc. (San Jose, Calif.), a supplier of power management ICs, as chief executive officer. Blackledge succeeds founder Steven Huynh, who will continue at Active-Semi as chief technology officer.
Active-Semi, founded in 2004, has shipped more than 500 million analog semiconductors with power management functions for ac-to-dc power converters.
Before joining Active-Semi, Blackledge spent more than 20 years with Texas Instruments in managerial positions, including time as vice president and general manager of TI's Custom Mixed Signal and Analog Semiconductor Business Unit.
"Active-Semi utilizes a unique process which enables analog power ICs to go from concept to sample delivery in as short as eight weeks," said Blackledge, in a statement. "This empowers customers to move quickly with new designs by providing cost-effective customer-defined solutions and gives them a tremendous advantage. We are becoming a significant presence in the power management market."
"The entire board and team at Active are grateful for Steven Huynh's leadership in attracting an outstanding team to Active-Semi, with the latest example being the recruitment of Mr. Blackledge," said Winston Fu, board member and general partner of U.S. Venture Partners, a venture investor in Active-Semi. "With Larry's leadership, Steven's technical brilliance, and the team's talent for delivering great products, Active will have a significant impact on the power management market."
Active-Semi employs more than 170 people worldwide, with offices in the United States, Europe, Korea, the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The company is backed by an investor group including U.S. Venture Partners, Tenaya Capital, Selby Ventures, Sunrise Capital and Mitsubishi UFJ Capital.
