Master Distributors has focused much of its energy on electromechanical products, which represent more than 70 percent of its business. Among the products the company distributes are connectors, filters, power supplies and relays, resistors, switches, timers, transformers, and wire and cable products.
Headquartered in Santa Monica, Calif., Master Distributors has some 369,000 electronic components in stock. Company executives say that while they have a line card that complements customer requirements, the need for value-added services is growing. In response, Master Distributors this year aims to strengthen its value-added services. Currently, the company performs several such services, including connector assembly, terminal-block and switch assembly, bar coding and custom packaging.
Master Distributors ships electronic components to Europe, Latin America and the Asia-Pacific region. In response to the growing volume of business being done in the greater China area, the company says it is finalizing plans to open offices in Shenzhen, Shanghai and Hong Kong within the next 18 months. Aside from helping the company cut shipping and freight costs, those offices will stock inventory and provide sales- and marketing-support services.
Under the leadership of president and CEO Ike Nizam, Master Distributors recorded revenue of $112.8 million in 2007.
