Arrow Electronics Inc. has maintained its position as one of the top two global distributors of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions. The Melville, N.Y.-based company has a worldwide network of more than 300 locations in 50 countries, through which it provides supply chain solutions for about 700 suppliers and 140,000 original equipment manufacturers, contract manufacturers and commercial customers. The company offers a wide range of services, including materials planning, design services, programming and assembly services, and inventory management, along with a comprehensive suite of online supply chain tools.
Arrow further expanded its global reach in 2007 by establishing a subsidiary to conduct business in Japan. The subsidiary, Arrow Electronics Japan GK, acquired all the shares in Universale Electron Corp., a Tokyo-based distributor of semiconductor and multimedia products to Japanese manufacturers and firms.
Arrow also shored up its European presence last year when it completed the acquisitions of Centia Group Ltd. and AKS Group Nordic AB, two leading European distributors of access infrastructure, security and virtualization software solutions. In addition, Arrow acquired the assets of Agilysys KeyLink Systems Group, a distributor of enterprise IBM and Hewlett-Packard products.
