The unfortunate demise of Agility left a vacancy in the EDAC board of directors, since Dave Burow, the company former CEO, had to submit his resignation. The conjunction of the vacancy and the recent appointment of a new CEO at Cadence offered the opportunity for Cadence to take one step toward retaking its rightful place within the EDA industry. Lip-Bu Tan, Cadence's president and CEO, has joined the EDAC board and will represent Cadence through the Spring of 2010.
Serving with Lip-Bu Tan are:
- Walden C. Rhines, EDA Consortium chairman, and chairman and CEO of Mentor Graphics Corporation
- Aart de Geus, EDA Consortium vice-chairman, and chairman and CEO of Synopsys, Inc.
- Kathryn Kranen, EDA Consortium vice-chairman, and president and CEO of Jasper Design Automation, Inc.
- John Bourgoin, EDA Consortium director, and president and CEO of MIPS Technologies, Inc.

- Chris Rowen

Cadence has been an active member of the EDA Consortium since 1988 and its employees have led important EDA Consortium initiatives on topics such as export controls and software piracy. The appointment of Lip-Bu Tan marks the return of Cadence to the EDA Consortium board.
"I am very pleased to be named to the board of directors of the EDA Consortium," said Tan. "I look forward to adding my experience and perspectives to those of the other board members, as we address the interests of the EDA Consortium member companies and also the needs of our customers throughout the electronics ecosystem."
