High-side power switches boost automotives

"Our new fully protected single-chip devices deliver impressive gains in RDS(on) and consume much less board area for the overall solution," said Anthony Murray, technical marketing manager for automotive components. "For example, the full-featured IPS6011 delivers a maximum on-state resistance of 14 milliohms in a DPak."
The IPS60xxPBF MOSFETs, for transmission and gearbox, solenoid drivers, lighting control, and DC motor control for seats, window lifts, and wipers, integrates over-current, over-temperature, ESD, and active clamp protection. An integrated charge pump allows the devices to be driven in high-side topologies without additional components.
The family features reverse battery protection and thus virtually eliminates current flow through the body diode during such a fault event. The switches also provide diagnostic feedback to the system microcontroller in detecting open load and short-circuit conditions.

The IPS6011 is priced beginning at $1.78 each. It's $1.18 for the IPS6021, 95 cents for the IPS6031, and 65 cents for the IPS6041, all in 10k quantities. Pricing is subject to change.
