Module packs two DDR DRAMs

Wilmington, Mass. - Kentron Technologies is readying a module that contains two SDRAM double-data-rate devices operating simultaneously in separate banks at nominal speed of 100 to133 MHz. One of the banks is synchronized with the host clock; the other operates with a 90 degrees phase difference. The data I/O from each bank is tied to a field-effect transistor.

The module is based on Quad Band Memory technology, which, the company claims, doubles the bandwidth of today's fastest memory ICs. QBM, Kentron says, increases overall system performance by doubling the transfer rate between the processor and main memory.

Prices start at $415 for a 256-Mbyte module. The product is expected to be available by the end of 2001.
