PARIS — High-level synthesis EDA vendor Forte Design Systems announced it has started to ship the latest version of its CellMath Designer datapath synthesis and CellMath IP software.

The CellMath family, Forte claimed, enables RTL designers to reduce area, increase performance and lower power consumption for their existing datapath-intensive design blocks.

Among other enhancements, Forte said the latest version provides more automation and includes improved RTL code optimizations, a new bi-directional retiming algorithm and more scripting control.

For existing users, CellMath Designer's multiplexor synthesis capability has been extended, the San Jose-based company added.

This product release comes a few months after Forte acquired Arithmatica Ltd., a U.K.-based supplier of IP and datapath synthesis tools, for an undisclosed amount.

Forte then said it would continue to develop and market Arithmatica's CellMath products, including direct support for CellMath Designer and support for CellMath Optimizer through its relationship with a graphics IP provider. The company said it would integrate Arithmatica's technology and IP into its Cynthesizer SystemC high-level synthesis tool to enhance quality of results.

Forte said the price of the latest version of CellMath Designer starts at $120,000 for a one-year.
