PARIS — EDA startup Nangate A/S has presented the 45nm Open Cell MegaLibrary to be used with the Nangate Design Optimizer (NDO). The purpose is to allow easy access to design performance improvements ahead of final design implementation.

Nangate said its 45nm Open Cell MegaLibrary uses its Library Creator. It integrates a large set of fine-grained cell variants that enable the digital logic of an IP core or SoC design to operate with higher performance than with the traditional standard-cell library approach, the Denmark-based company claimed.

This is done through the application of library sub-setting, deployed using NDO, integrating seamlessly with existing EDA design flows from synthesis through to back-end place & route.

The 45nm Open Cell MegaLibrary, Nangate continued, aims to enable digital designers to "easily and rapidly" discover the possible design performance improvements that library sub-setting enables in terms of speed, power or area or a combination thereof, ahead of making the final production decisions on process and foundry.

Nangate released the 65nm MegaLibrary at DAC 2009 in San Francisco.

Nangate has recently announced it was leading an EU-backed project that aims to develop design methods and EDA tools in a view to remove the limitations in physical implementation effectiveness associated with technology scaling and advanced sub-wavelength lithography.

The three-year project, dubbed Synaptic (SYNthesis using Advanced Process Technology Integrated in regular Cells, IPs, architectures, and design platforms), targets the optimization of manufacturability and the reduction of systematic variations in nanometer technologies through exploitation of regularity at the architectural, structural and geometrical levels.
