SiliconBlue offers 'turbo' version of mobile FPGA family
Peter Clarke6/17/2009 8:55 AM EDT
The family is built using the 65-nm low-power CMOS process from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. but SiliconBlue did not explain how the 65 percent speed upgrade had been achieved or whether it is at the expense of other low-power parameters.
The original iCE65 FPGA is benchmarked for Vcc current consumption at clock frequencies of 32-kHz and 32-MHz. SiliconBlue did not indicate at what clock frequencies the turbo version is benchmarked.
Designs can be implemented in the turbo iCE65 turbo using VHDL/Verilog-based development software. Unit cost for iCE65L04-T in a CS63 package is $1.95, and $3.90 for the iCE65L08 in CC72, both in one million unit quantities.
