3/31/2009 1:58 AM EDT
SiliconBlue (Santa Clara, Calif.) also announced two new peripheral daughter modules, PDM1 and PDM2.
ICE65 ultra low-power FPGAs are intended for consumer, battery-based applications with short development and product life cycles, such as smart phones, portable media players, digital still cameras, netbooks, mobile internet devices, hand-held point-of-sale systems, medical instruments, eBooks/ePaper and flash camcorders.
The PDM1 and PDM2 modules provide designers with the hardware and IP necessary to develop and test a complete, turn-key solution, according to Silicon Blue. PDM1 showcases applications such as light and temperature sensing and Querty keypad, both based on SiliconBlue-developed IP, the company said. PDM2 functions as touch-screen controller, the company said.
The iCEman65 evaluation kit includes an iCE65L04 ultra-low power FPGA with 3520 logic cells, 80,000 bits of RAM and 176 programmable I/O pins, SiliconBlue said.. When used with the SiliconBlue iCEcube VHDL and Verilog-based development software designers can create applications using the on-board USB-based configuration solution, according to the company.
The kit also includes I/O expandability, supporting four different I/O banks with multiple I/O standards, and a full line of affordable third-party accessories, SiliconBlue said. Board test points provide access to all iCE65 voltage rails for power measurements, the company said. Board schematics, Gerber files and a complete user guide complete the kit, the company said.
The iCEman65 evaluation kit is available immediately for $299, SiliconBlue said. The PDM1 is priced at $399 and the PDM2 is priced at $499, the company said.
