LONDON – Lantiq Deutschland GmbH, the wireline chip spin-off from Infineon Technologies AG, has introduced a 65-nm chipset for carrier linecards supporting the global VDSL2 and ADSL/2/2+ standards.

The Vinax V3 has a power consumption of 900-milliwatts per channel designed to meet the low-power design requirements defined in the EU Code of Conduct (CoC) on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment, according to Lantiq (Munich, Germany). Vinax V3 also is the first VDSL2 solution to work with either Class AB or low-power Class H line drivers, Lantiq said. Each Vinax V3 chipset occupies an area of 29 mm by 29 mm for 16 channels in VDSL2 Profile 17a. An 8-channel solution for VDSL2 profile 30a requires 30 percent less area.

The Vinax V3 chipset can drive data rates up to 150 Mbps downstream and 100 Mbps upstream on a single line, supporting such services as high-definition IPTV, high-speed Internet access, multi-player gaming networks and VoIP.

Vinax V3 also integrates a controller for remote line testing by carriers with no external equipment needed.

"VDSL2 is the key technology for successful triple-play service delivery in next-generation network deployments," said Hubert Christl, general manager of Lantiq's Access Networks Business Unit.

The Vinax V3 chipset, including digital front end (DFE), analog front end (AFE) and line driver chips, is now sampling to lead customers.
