LONDON — RTOS specialist Enea AB (Kista, Sweden) has appointed Per Åkerberg its CEO as of March 27, 2009. The company has had an acting CEO since last May, when its president and CEO Johan Wall suddenly resigned.

Åkerberg is currently Chief Operating Officer. Since Wall’s departure, board member Åsa Landén Ericsson has been acting as CEO and president.

Enea said the company had screened external as well as internal candidates before promoting Åkerberg to president and CEO.

"Per has a thorough knowledge of the company as well as our market, and the board is convinced that he will continue to successfully grow Enea”, commented Ericsson in his role as board representative.

Åkerberg, who is 43, started at Enea in 2004 as CEO of the company’s Embedded Technology group, and was promoted to COO in 2006.

The company said the strategic decision to expand the group's software portfolio has been successful and Enea has grown to become the market's broadest provider of real-time operating systems, middleware, network protocols, databases and tools. It added Åkerberg has also contributed to establishing Enea operations in new markets, such as Asia and North America.

Prior to Enea, Åkerberg worked for Telelogic as Senior Vice President for Sales in Central Europe and North America and for Telia Megacom.
