LONDON — Microcontroller startup Energy Micro AS (Olso, Norway), which is working on an ARM Cortex-M3 based microcontroller, had jobs listed on its website when this story was posted for senior and junior digital IC designers, an embedded software engineer and for a manager of the digital IC design group.

Any applicant for the manager position needs to have any M.Sc. or Ph.D in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. And that experience needs to be at least 3 to 5 years experience with design and verification of digital and SoC systems. Experience with low-power design is a definite advantage as that is where company founder and CEO Geir Forre is aiming the company,

The first EFM32 microcontrollers are due to launch in August 2009.

Unlike a lot of companies Energy Micro is willing to take on junior designers with no experience, however, they must be able to demonstrate outstanding results from university, the company's website said.

The embedded software engineer will be responsible development of application examples, software libraries and drivers, reference designs and RTOS support for the EFM32 microcontroller family.

The compensation for all the positions is described as "competitive" but with emphasis placed on a stock-purchase program. Forre sold his previous company Chipcon AS to Texas Instruments for $200 million in January 2006.
