Secure banana plug, jack
5/21/2001 11:44 AM EDT
Pomona, Calif. - Pomona Electronics' In-Line banana plug Model 6383 and In-Line banana jack Model 6384 are said to make secure wire connections and to facilitate safe handling practices with test leads in labs, factories and field use.
The devices are compatible with most 4-mm shrouded banana plugs and jacks. Once assembled, the plug offers an easy-to-handle grip while providing voltage protection for the user, the company said.
Suitable for use with insulated wire from 0.06 to 0.15 inch in diameter, Models 6383 and 6384 feature an overvoltage rating of Category II 300 volts and comply with IEC1010 standards. Operating temperature range is -29 degrees C to +135 degrees C.
The plug and jack can be easily assembled onto any wire from 22 to 18 AWG using common crimp tools. After crimping the stripped end of the wire into the plug or jack with a bare-terminal crimp tool, the insulator can be pulled over the crimp area and locked into place. The finished assembly meets the requirements of UL-3111 and complies with EN61010 requirements for handheld use. The Model 6383 and Model 6384 are priced at $2.35 each in packages of 10 and are available from authorized Pomona distributors.
