Debugger supports the ST7 family
4/29/2002 1:47 PM EDT
The inDART-ST7F is an in-circuit debugger-programmer that supports the ST72F family of flash microcontrollers from STMicroelectronics. The inDART is connected to the host PC through a USB port, while a 10-pin probe fits into a special in-situ programming (ISP) connector. ISP programming uses a serial protocol to interface a programming tool like inDART. The instrument is powered by the USB bus, so no external power supply is required. The ISP feature allows users to update the content of the flash program memory while the device is plugged into or soldered to the application board. Device removal is not necessary. Likewise, during debugging, the same target device mounted in the application board is used. The inDART's user interface is based on the ST7 visual debug (STVD7) integrated development environment. STVD7 enables programs to be executed and stopped where desired, while viewing memory contents. Users can step through the code at the source and assembly instruction level. They can also introduce breakpoints and run or single-step the executable, while viewing the source and observing current program values. All registers and memory locations are accessible for both read and write operations. The inDART-ST7F is available now for between $249 and $299.
