Micron to break ground on new IC-test and assembly plant in Singapore

BOISE, Ida. -- Continuing to expand its operations in Asia, Micron Technology Inc. here today announced the groundbreaking of a new IC-assembly and test facility in Singapore.

The 400,000-square-foot facility, to be completed in early-2002, will handle the packaging, assembly, test, and module assembly functions for the supplier of DRAMs, chip sets, and other IC products, said Jen Kwong Hwa, managing director for Micron Semiconductor Asia Pte. Ltd., in Singapore.

The plant will support its DRAM manufacturing venture in Singapore, which was acquired from Texas Instruments Inc. Other partners in the venture include Canon, Hewlett-Packard, and the government-sponsored Economic Development Board of Singapore.
