Virage Logic expands in The Netherlands

MANHASSET, NY — Virage Logic Corp. has established a Dutch corporation in conjunction with its new research and development center of excellence in Eindhoven.
The R&D center will develop products based on the intellectual property recently acquired from NXP, and will also provide on-going support to NXP.
Virage Logic also has named Joshua Rom as the managing director of Netherlands B.V. entity and general manager of its newly formed Analog Business Unit.
Rom, a 30-year industry veteran, was vice president of operations at Ikanos Communications and director of engineering at Broadcom Corp. He also held a number of positions at MMC Networks, Silicon Light Machines, Adaptec and WaferScale Integration (WSI).

I think that this can be a step in the right direction for Virage Logic. It is surprising that they would expand to the Netherlands and hope to make it a true success. However, with such experienced men leading the way I should so no reason why they shouldn't succeed. Have they already settled in and opened their doors?

This is not just about the Dutch frame of mind. This is about tapping into the rich IP collection that was designed, redesigned and perfected over the last 20 years, in all the ares of Silicon IP creation. People all over are familiar with this IP and are asking for it.

Its not that Virage is crazy about the N'lands or it sees gold that other people dont. When you have money and you see a good deal, you buy it and think what to do about it later.
The product line matches very well with the products that they have in the ASIP division. They are doing well selling HardIPs and its relatively easy to stick these soft IPs with it like DDR, PCIE, USB etc so it all becomes a one stop solution. A smart acquisition. The n'lands unit will be around for some time till they have customers for these IPs. After that...good luck...
