Trusted Logic releases NFC protocol stack for Android

LONDON — Trusted Logic SA (Versailles, France), the embedded security company recently acquired by Gemalto NV (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), has launched software to implement near-field communications (NFC) under Google's Android operating system.

The Trusted NFC is a software platform that enables mobile applications to use handset NFC connectivity. It provides interfaces for developing applications, either in native or using Java. NFC can be used for wireless information exchange as well as payment systems.

Trusted Logic offers reference implementations of Trusted NFC on a number of operating systems, including Android and PC simulation environments such as the Android emulator as well as on various mobile platforms, using the NXP PN544 NFC controller as the reference for validation. Trusted Logic also tests the reference implementations' interoperability with smart cards and smart labels from different suppliers.

"Trusted NFC is a key element of Trusted Logic's vision in the deployment of value-added services on mobile handsets," said Dominique Bolignano, president of Trusted Logic, in a statement.
