ALAMEDA, Calif. Wink Communications and Thomson Consumer Electronics agreed Monday (June 7) to integrate Wink's enhanced broadcasting technology into RCA DirecTV satellite receivers.
The new interactive service will be available on RCA receivers starting this fall.
Wink's interactive system allows networks and advertisers to offer interactive overlays that appear as supplemental text and graphics on a TV receiver. Wink also provides software to create and deliver the overlays, display them on TVs, cable and satellite boxes and collect and route viewer requests.
Last week, Wink announced an agreement with Microsoft Corp. to promote interactive content and commerce based on Advanced Television Enhancement Forum-compliant devices.
