MUNICH, Germany Zuken-Redac has announced a Web-enabled EDA-library parts generator for pc-board CAD users.
The InterParts library can be accessed over the Internet to download prepared views of known parts and package definitions prepared by Zuken and other service providers.
It includes access to the Elsinet and CapsXpert data books, which contain pin and layout information for thousands of active and passive components, symbol and pin-map libraries, a package library and a footprint compiler, which allows package footprints to be generated in MDF format.
"Our customers are telling us that library generation is costing the industry hundreds of millions of dollars in both efficiency and opportunity costs," said Anthony Cutler, head of new business development for Zuken-Redac. "It now takes one to three weeks to generate and verify a complex new library entry. Library generation is delaying part availability by delaying design starts and also by generating ECOs [engineering change orders] to correct erroneous part data."
Zuken said its library-part search-and-generation server allows users to download library elements rather than generate them in-house.
A demo version of InterParts can be accessed online.
