Samsung names new system LSI head

Samsung Semiconductor Inc., San Jose, said that Dennis Kim has been named vice president and head of the System LSI operation of the U.S. subsidiary.

He was previously director of the core technology group for National Semiconductor Corp., Santa Clara, Calif. and before that was director of 64-bit microprocessor group for NEC Electronics Inc., Santa Clara, Calif.

Benson Cheung had been serving as acting head of the System LSI group, and he will continue as director of business development at the Samsung U.S. subsidiary reporting to Kim.

Samsung Semiconductor also named Bob Burke as marketing manager for network silicon applications in the Systems LSI group. He was most recently a product sales manager for AT&T. Richard Yeh, formerly with the market research firm Strategies Unlimited, Mountain View, Calif., was also named senior marketing manager for the unit.
