Designing multiple PCI Express processor nodes into xTCA host systems
GE Intelligent Platforms
White Paper
November 2008
One of the barriers to wider adoption of PCI Express-based systems within the PICMG xTCA architectures has been an issue that is inherent in the nature of PCI Express itself—namely support for multiple processor nodes within the PCI Express fabric. The introduction of a configurable PCI Express interface port on Processor AdvancedMC modules has fully addressed this issue in MicroTCA and AdvancedTCA carrier form factors. These new AdvancedMCs have been dubbed AMC.1 "Universal PrAMCs" to describe this functionality.
