Customer Specific Standard Products Ease Mobile Device Design

Mobile device designers face a critical question: what functionality should be incorporated into next-generation designs? Answering this question while simultaneously addressing the market needs of rapid development, lowest cost, and long battery life presents a major challenge. This paper describes a new design alternative—the Customer Specific Standard Product (CSSP), which maximizes design options while minimizing cost and effort. A CSSP works as a companion device to the host processor and offers developers a unique combination of flexibility, integration, and silicon efficiency, while keeping power demands low.
