Pop and Click Artifacts in PC Audio Systems

Pops-and-clicks are audible, undesirable noise artifacts that occur when an unintended analog signal is passed through to an audio output device, such as headphones or speakers. This paper describes common sources of pop-and-click artifacts in PC audio systems and presents solutions for minimizing them. The paper also details architectural advances in the IDT High Definition Audio (HDA) codec product line that can improve pop-and-click performance.
