Using Cyclone III FPGAs for Emerging Wireless Applications

The stringent power and cost requirements of emerging wireless applications such as remote radio heads, pico/femto base stations, WiMAX customer premises equipment (CPE), and software-defined radio (SDR) present formidable challenges for product designers. High data rate requirements and ever-evolving standards add to these demands, requiring advanced performance and flexibility in end products. This paper, detailing a case study of a WiMAX pico base station, illustrates how Altera Cyclone III FPGAs help designers address these issues.
