Using Clock Generation Chips to Replace Crystals and Oscillators

This paper is intended as an introduction to issues and solutions related to silicon-based timing. The strengths and weaknesses of quartz crystals and oscillators are discussed and PLL clock chips are introduced as highly advantageous replacements.
