Effects of On Resistance (RON) to an Analog Switch
Fairchild Semiconductor
Technology Paper
August 2003
There are many factors that affect RON such as temperature, input voltage, supply voltage, and gate length "W". Optimizing the performance of a MOSFET as an analog switch requires a number of trade-offs. If the Width/Length ratio is increased to reduce RON the parasitic capacitance of the gate oxide will increase proportionately resulting in lower bandwidth.
