16-Lane PCIe Switch in Advanced Mezzanine Card

The AMC Modules are attracting many users due to their versatility and upgradeability. The AMC Modules can be plugged into the AdvancedTCA systems, MicroTCA systems or any chassis that uses the AMC form factor and interfaces. This article explores how the PICMG Forum is creating a new standard, the MicroTCA chassis, allowing AMC modules to be directly connected to the switch fabric or host module through backplane interface. The MicroTCA standard can be used to build chassis in various form factors (width/height) based on the need of the application or user.
