Adopting OpenAccess Technology

In the fiercely competitive electronic design industry, standards are slow to evolve. The Holy Grail of standards is that for a single, open design database for the entire design flow, from concept to design to manufacturing. The OpenAccess database and API are true change agents for improving electronics design.

This paper explores the history of standards for electronic design and discusses why the wide variety of design tools and tool maturity requires diferent strategies for adopting OpenAccess.
