OpenAccess is on the road to becoming the new standard of interoperability in the EDA industry. It promises to increase speed (and subsequently reduce the IC design flow cycle time), decrease file size and ultimately lower design costs. However, it must first become universally adopted by the EDA industry as the format of choice. This paper explores, through first-hand implementation experience, how its ability to integrate with other EDA databases will help it to win complete industry adoption.
