With the increasing density and complexity of field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), programmable architectures are becoming more attractive for implementing embedded system designs. FPGA manufacturers are continually adding hard intellectual property (IP), including increased memory, I/O standard support, and digital signal processing (DSP) functionality, which increases system performance and minimizes the need for peripheral devices.
