Since its invention less than a decade ago, USB has become the technology of choice for connecting peripherals to PCs. The success of USB can be attributed to its robust performance characteristics, low cost, ease-of-use, and small connector size. Its wide use has driven down connectivity costs, and enabled the proliferation of complex peripherals and mobile devices.
