Automotive design has traditionally been an arduous process with long design cycles. But with consumers demanding increased safety features and driver convenience features, such as satellite navigation and reversing cameras, manufacturers are increasingly looking to design reusability and flexibility, which is where software takes center stage. This article discusses the role that software plays in the design of advanced automotive functionality today and how to control the increasing costs of software through the use of ARM IP.
