Analyzing Performance Requirements for Automotive Applications
ARM, EEMBC (EDN Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium)

August 2007
Embedded vehicle application designers need benchmarks developed specifically for automotive applications in order to make informed choices about available embedded microcontrollers. This article provides an overview of the challenges involved in developing such benchmarks, such as the creation of standards that can be generated to match specific original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications, and which can be adapted to automotive standards as soon as requirements are known, rather than requiring a long development cycle.
