Using High-Performance FPGAs in Mobile Base Station Design
Achronix Semiconductor
Application Note
October 2008
High-performance FPGAs, such as the Speedster family from Achronix, creates the opportunity for significant improvements in base station design by improving performance, power consumption, system integration and ultimately enabling reprogrammability. Most notably, Speedster's patented picoPIPE technology delivers more than three times the speed of conventional FPGAs, (up to 1.5 GHz), giving it a solid edge in addressing the complexity and traffic volume challenges.
