Mobility seems to be such a simple concept. If we can get radio communications to a device, then certainly we should be able to use that device while we are moving around. The most familiar radio-based device these days " the cell phone " is certainly capable of this, so it can't be that big a deal, can it? As with most things, it is more complex than it appears. This paper will explore mobility in the context of networked devices. This pertains to things as simple as sensor networks which monitor things that move around, and applications as complex as connection-oriented services to highly mobile platforms, such as cars or planes.
