How to Choose a Deterministic Networking Protocol
Embedded Systems Conference (ESC)
Al VrancicConference Paper
May 2007
Deterministic network protocols provide a means to perform simulation and control across multiple nodes on a network. While military standards and commercially available technologies are common solutions, in some cases, a custom protocol is the best choice when standards or off-the-shelf solutions do not meet determinism or speed requirements. As a use-case, the design challenges of creating an in-house custom deterministic protocol will be discussed. Key takeaways: Leave this session with advice on the decision-making process of selecting a deterministic networking protocol based on the trade-offs of determinism versus speed.
