Formal software inspection is one of the cornerstones of the software development discipline. There have been volumes written about classic software inspection techniques and caveats. This paper will present a brief overview of general software inspection, and then focus on the topics that pertain more specifically to embedded control software. Look for insight on designing for testability, coding to standards, the classification of inspection elements, and guidelines for executing reviews.
