Wireless Local Area Networks

This paper focuses on the current developments of wireless local networks (LANs). The first section highlights major technical problems associated with the indoor wireless environment and recommends solutions to cope with these problems. The second section deals with issues related to wireless LAN implementation, and in the third section, the structure of the IEEE 802.11, HIPERLAN and Bluetooth standards are explained. The last part of the paper describes a novel measurement technique for performance evaluation of commercial wireless LANs.
