Designing an IEEE1451.2 Smart Transducer with the Analog Devices ADuC812 MicroConverter

Understanding the emerging IEEE 1451.2 Smart Sensor Standard is the first step in developing a generic network-enabled smart sensor. This paper relates the experience of Analog Devices in understanding the background and concepts behind 1451 and its subsequent development of a two-channel 1451.2 compliant transducer on its family of MicroConverter devices.
