Performance Advantages of a Finite State Machine-based Fibre Channel Controller

This White Paper will discuss the theoretical performance differences between an FSM-based Fibre Channel controller versus an embedded-microprocessor approach. Actual performance results will then be presented, as seen with HP TachyonTL (HPFC-5100)-based Fibre Channel HBAs, versus the results of a RISC-based Brand-X Fibre Channel HBA.
