Want to redesign Neo-branded mobile phones to your own vision and the market needs as you see them? Stop in at the teardown of the Openmoko open source cell phone on Tuesday, March 31 between 1:30 to 2:30 pm at the ESC Theater.

It was just a couple of years ago that Openmoko posted its industrial design source files for its Neo-branded mobile phones. For industrial design artist and software engineer, this resulted in access to files for the first time that provided unprecedented freedom, not to mention speed, in phone redesign.

In a mobile phone environment where simplicity of design, cost, and time-to-market are critical, stop by and see how information gained through the Openmoko teardown may have an important impact on your own designs.

The tear down has not occured yet. It will take place at the Embedded Systems Conference at the end of March. If you can't be there in person to see the tear down, most likely an EETimes editor will write a story about it, which you can read here on Embedded.com at the end of March, beginning of April. Stay tuned.
